Value

Streams of Water (Our Values)

The Centrality of God’s Word (2 Timothy 3:16, 4:2; Psalm 119)

We will wholeheartedly seek to be a people who learn, love, and live by God’s Word. We will aim to assist one another in learning about and applying the Bible to our daily lives. “The Stream” will be a church that will proclaim God’s Word in its worship services primarily through systematically teaching through portions of Scripture and entire books of the Bible. We will strongly emphasize the application and relevancy of God’s Word to our lives and to the world around us in these messages. The leadership of the church and all of the ministries of the church (such as small groups, children’s and youth ministries, and mercy ministries) will diligently strive to keep the Word of God central in all that they do.

Passionate Spirituality (Mark 12:30; Psalms 42:1-2, Psalms 63, Psalms 150; Romans 12:1-2)

People are passionate about what they love. God calls us to love him with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength (Mark 12:30). We want God, who himself is love (1 John 4:7-12), to be our first love (Revelation 2:4). We want our lives and our worship of God to engage every aspect of our being, including our feelings and emotions. We will be a people that yearn and thirst for God as a deer longs for streams of water. We will have a healthy and biblically balanced sense of expectation for God to meet with us and to work in and through our lives, at times perhaps even powerfully, in accordance with his will.

Loving Relationships (John 13:34-35; Hebrews 10:24-25; 1 Corinthians 13:4-8)

If you appreciate making good friends and developing solid relationships with other people, then come be a part of The Stream. We believe that the church should be a loving family where people can truly connect with others, and that is what we want to see in this church. The Stream will strive to be a welcoming and loving community of people who help one another follow Jesus, while also having a lot of fun together. We will care for one another, challenge one another, encourage one another, and when necessary, forgive one another. We will seek to discover, exercise in an orderly way, and use whatever gifts God gives us to build up one another and to serve others (1 Corinthians 12-14).

Outreach (Matthew 28:18-20; Acts 1:8)

We want to share the message of God’s great love through Jesus Christ with others. We want to take this good news of the gospel to our families, friends, neighbors, co-workers, and even to the ends of the earth. We will be a church that is continually flowing out like a stream to others, reaching and bringing transforming life and growth in the Las Vegas valley and throughout the world.

Disciple-Making (Matthew 28:18-20; Colossians 1:28-29; 2 Timothy 2:2)

A disciple is someone who knows, learns about, and follows Jesus. We are committed to helping people to grow to be mature followers of Jesus Christ, and we will labor and strive by God’s power working in and through us to help people to continue to grow. We will encourage discipleship through our Watershed program, our small groups, mentoring relationships, leadership and ministry training, as well as through real life experiences that can be opportunities for personal and spiritual growth.

Mercy Ministries (Luke 4:18-19; James 1:27; Proverbs 19:17, 29:7, 31:20)

A reality of the world that we live in is that many people are in pain; in fact most of us have deep struggles from time to time in our lives. We aim to be a church that can bring help and healing to people. We want to help people dealing with such things as discouragement and depression, marital difficulties, addictions, abuse, financial problems and debt, sickness, the pain and grief from the loss of a loved one, or any other major struggles. We want to partner with a Christian counseling center (see Renewing Life Center below), provide seminars, and provide care through support and recovery groups. Furthermore, we want to show God’s love and mercy to the poor, sick, and suffering in the community and in the world. We will seek to develop and involve ourselves in ministries that do these things.

One way The Stream can help people who are facing struggles is by connecting them to
where they can receive compassionate Christian counseling.

The Stream partners with the
Las Vegas Rescue Mission. We volunteer at the Las Vegas Rescue Mission and assist in such things as the serving of meals and food, clothing, and toy drives.

The Stream partners with
Foster Connect, which informs people of the needs of foster children in the Las Vegas valley and helps train and support parents involved in foster parenting.

The Stream also partners with
Club Christ Ministries, which ministers to urban youth in Las Vegas and Henderson by providing a safe after school environment with academic enrichment, leadership development, community service, and opportunities for faith development.
